CArtwright Center

Cartwright Center is the Student Union on campus that houses event halls, dining, bookstore,

and offices. Cartwright Center has had some minor updates in the years to become more

energy efficient..

Sustainable Features:

  • In 2011, 45 incandescent lamps, which operated at 200-250 watts, were replaced by 65 watt self-ballasted spiral lamps. This small change is estimated to reduce electrical consumption by 34,000 kilowatt hours per year, and prospectively save UWL $2,550 per year.
  • Also in 2011, the removal and recycling of 32 watt 4-foot linear fluorescent lamps was put into action at Cartwright Center. It is estimated to reduce electrical consumption by 10,400 kilowatt hours per year, and save UWL $775 per year.
